Start of the New Academic Year: Summer Conference

Internationalisation, digitisation, and AI

The Summer Conference 2024 has become one of the key events to mark the beginning of the new academic year. The event was opened and moderated by doc. Ing. Jiří Koleňák, Ph.D., MBA, LL.M., who emphasised the importance of innovation and internationalisation in contemporary education right from the start.

A highlight of the program was the presentation by Mgr. Dagmar Cagáňová, Ph.D., who discussed the critical role of internationalisation in studies, projects, and collaborations like Erasmus+. She also stressed the growing importance of digitalisation in academia, introducing a new information system designed to enhance student support. The university’s commitment to digitalisation extends to integrating artificial intelligence not just in teaching but across various facets of academic life.

A special focus was placed on the “Academic 6.0” concept, which bridges traditional education with cutting-edge technologies. Networking, both within the university and with global industry leaders — such as experts from Taiwan — was highlighted as a vital component of a successful education at NEWTON.

NEWTON University is open to innovation

The conference also unveiled several innovative projects aligned with the university’s core strategic pillars: community, innovative thinking, and personal mastery. These included the introduction of the Center for Humanities, the Center for International Programs, and the NEWTON Business Accelerator.

Supporting more than just postgraduate students

Mgr. Veronika Koleňáková, Ph.D., MBA, spoke about the rising popularity of postgraduate studies and management training programs, which are attracting growing interest from both students and the wider public.

Rounding off the event, Ing. David Král, Ph.D., presented Sting College and the vast opportunities it offers graduates. The conversation also covered grant programs, internships, and the role of the student affairs office in providing vital support and acting as a liaison between students and the university.

The conference concluded by highlighting key events to look forward to throughout the year, such as the NEWTON Business Summit, Pop-Up Market, New Gen Academy, and partner events like PIMCO 2025, Český Goodwill, and the Manager of the Year awards.

The Summer Conference 2024 set the stage for an exciting year ahead, offering plenty of inspiration for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
