ChemSkills: enabling the green and digital skills transformation of the chemical industry

A European project aiming, over four years, to support the development of skills in the chemical industry for the green transition, digitalisation and the circular economy. The project connects companies, schools and associations, identifies skill needs and prepares specific learning opportunities for different levels – from secondary schools to lifelong learning.

Main Objectives of the Project

Chemskills - role

Creating a clear overview of job roles and skills across the main fields of chemistry

Chemskills - modulární formy učení

Development of modular forms of learning: online courses (MOOCs), laboratory/practical courses and VR/AR training, which can be combined into micro-credentials

Chemskills - platforma

Providing access to an open platform with materials, overviews and recommendations for both companies and educators

Working Group Objectives

Impact & Dissemination

Impact & Dissemination

To ensure that the project results have a real impact and reach the target groups. Within WP2, communication strategies, sets of templates and materials will be created; a stakeholder database will be managed, and webinars as well as participation in industry events will be carried out. NEWTON University is responsible for leading WP2.

Sectoral Skills Intelligence & Education Provision

Sectoral Skills Intelligence & Education Provision

To harmonise methodology and map skills across the sector. The output will be a sectoral strategy and roadmap, a proposal of job profiles, and an overview of cross-cutting digital and green skills.

Trainings Development & Delivery

Trainings Development & Delivery

To design and validate modular education. Within WP4, existing courses will be mapped, new ones will be developed (MOOCs, laboratories, VR/AR) and piloted. Measurable impact indicators and recognition mechanisms will be established, including micro-credentials.

Plastics

Plastics

To identify key skills in the field of plastics, with a focus on sustainability, recycling and digitalisation.

Consumer Chemicals

Consumer Chemicals

To describe skills for the development and production of consumer chemical products.

Fertilisers

Fertilisers

To define skills for efficient and more sustainable fertiliser production.

Rubber

Rubber

To map skill needs in the rubber industry.

Pharmaceuticals

Pharmaceuticals

To define skills for the highly regulated environment of pharmaceutical production.

Petrochemicals

Petrochemicals

To gather skill needs and prepare development scenarios in petrochemistry.
