Lecture topic: Falling as a fresh start: Everything happens for a reason, even when it doesn’t feel that way

Erik Cais is a professional rally driver from Zlín, content creator and business management student. He got into rallying after a downhill cycling crash left him with a broken collarbone and brought his first sporting career to an end. At the Barum Czech Rally Zlín, he was just eight kilometres away from winning the most prestigious rally in the Czech Republic when he crashed. At the time, he thought he had lost everything. In reality, it was only the beginning of a career that would take him to success in the World Rally Championship. Later, he found himself without money and under pressure, yet he still started a small business while learning how to make a living from racing.

In his talk, he will show that what looks like the end at the time is often the beginning of something better. This is not about celebrating failure. No one needs to choose the hardest possible path. What matters is how you respond when things go wrong: whether you can acknowledge your mistake, learn from it and keep going. He will also talk about why building connections with people is more valuable than any marketing strategy and why learning from other people’s mistakes can pay off.
